Tilmicosin Phosphate
Tilmicosin is a veterinary medicine pharmaceutical ingredient, it's mainly used for the prevention and treatment of bovine pneumonia and mastitis caused by sensitive bacteria, and also for mycoplasma disease in pigs and chickens.
Pharmacology
(1) Pharmacodynamics: The antibacterial effect is similar to that of tylosin, mainly against Gram-positive bacteria, and also effective against a few Gram-negative bacteria and mycoplasma. Its activity against Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella and Mycoplasma of livestock and poultry is stronger than tylosin. It has been reported that 95% of Pasteurella hemolytica strains are sensitive to this product.
(2) Pharmacokinetics: After oral administration or subcutaneous injection, this product has fast absorption, strong tissue penetration and large distribution volume.
Precautions
(1) Intravenous injection of this product is prohibited. A single intravenous injection of 5 mg/kg is lethal to cattle, and it is also dangerous for pigs, primates and horses.
(2) Local reactions (edema, etc.) can occur in intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, and they cannot be brought into contact with eyes. The subcutaneous injection site should be chosen in the area on the back of the cow's shoulder on the rib cage.
(3) The target organ of this drug's toxic effects is the heart, which can cause tachycardia and weakened contractility. (4) Cardiovascular status should be closely monitored when using this product.
(5) The injection of this product should be used with caution in animals other than cattle.
(6) During the withdrawal period, subcutaneous injection was performed for 28 days, and pigs were administered orally for 14 days. Dairy cows and beef calves during the milking period are prohibited.
